CO2RE Fractional CO2 Laser
Our practice offers the CO2RE Fractional CO2 Laser, an innovative laser for skin resurfacing.
What is CO2RE Fractional Resurfacing?
The CO2RE Carbon Dioxide (C02) Fractional Laser is designed by the leading laser company Candela. It is designed to remove layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method to help reduce “age-spots”, fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, uneven coloration, skin laxity, textural irregularities, and helps to restore collagen in the face, neck, and chest.
CO2RE is the best treatment if you wish to get the most results with one treatment. If you have the ability to take time to heal (7-14 days), having this one treatment is equivalent to having multiple other non-invasive treatments at once. It is also the best single treatment for advanced skin damage, wrinkling, and severe acne scars.
CO2RE is an in-office procedure that requires pre and post-treatment medications to ensure proper healing and comfort during the procedure. For your comfort during the treatment, we will apply a topical anesthetic and inject local anesthetic as well as prescribe sedative medications to reduce discomfort. After the treatment, most patients describe the skin as feeling like a sunburn for the first 1-2 days.
What results should I expect?
Treatment results in a very significant and noticeable reduction in the components of sun-damaged skin such as “age-spots” (also called sun freckles, liver spots, and lentigines), fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, uneven coloration, skin laxity, and textural irregularities. The skin continues to improve for a period of 6 months following the procedure provided proper skincare is used and sun exposure is minimized.

What are the risks and side effects?
The main side effect of the CO2RE is the downtime. Depending on the area and the aggressiveness of the treatment, it will take 7-14 days for the skin to heal. This downtime will include significant redness, crusting, dryness, and peeling and flaking (it is important to keep the skin moist after treatment). This does mean that social and work activities will have to be curtailed during this time, although you should be perfectly capable of working from home after the first day or two. Other potential side effects may include but are not limited to: skin wound, infection and scarring, hypo and hyper-pigmentation.
Prior to treatment all potential risks and side effects will be discussed with you by your physician and care team.
Can CO2RE Fractional CO2 Fractional Laser be combined with other treatments?
Fractional CO2 laser treatment is commonly combined with injectable fillers such as Voluma, Belotero, or Juvederm to provide volume enhancement at the same time as skin resurfacing. Also, treatment with neuromodulators such as Botox Cosmetic is often recommended 2-3 weeks prior to laser treatment to soften lines of movement and improve the results of the CO2 laser.
The Use of CO2RE laser for the treatment of Rhinophyma
There are several options available for treatment, my preferred option is the carbon dioxide (CO2) laser. The CO2 laser has become the common laser of choice in the treatment of rhinophyma because sharp margins and good hemostasis can be achieved with improved wound healing, compared with other treatment options.
