VBeam Pulsed Dye Laser

Our practice offers the VBeam Pulsed Dye Laser, the industry-leader for laser treatment of vascular lesions.

What is VBeam?

VBeam is a Pulsed Dye Laser that emits a specific wavelength of light to treat red lesions on the skin such as rosacea, red blood vessels, and birthmarks such as port-wine stains.  In our practice, it is safe, non-invasive and is tailored to the individual patient’s skin.

What are the benefits of VBeam?

The VBeam Pulsed Dye Laser offers a breadth of treatment options and a custom-tailored treatment approach for patients.

Redness / Rosacea / Blood Vessels – The Ellipse IPL system can uniquely address unwanted facial redness caused by enlarged blood vessels, flushing, or rosacea.  The Ellipse IPL can utilize “short-pulse” mode to achieve unparalleled clearance of unwanted redness.

What is the Vbeam Treatment Like?

Vbeam is an office-based procedure that takes approximately 5-20 minutes depending on the area treated.  Prior to treatment, the skin is cleansed to remove any oil of makeup which can interfere with the laser energy.  For this reason, it is best to come with no makeup on the treatment area. The eyes are covered with goggles for protection.  When the treatment is delivered, a cooling spray is delivered at the same time as the pulse of energy to cool the protect the surface of the skin.  The sensation of the treatment is that of light rubber band snaps on the skin.

In general, patients have a series of three to four treatments spaced approximately one month apart.  Most patients experience a few days of redness and possible pinpoint bruising after the VBeam procedure depending on the treatment settings utilized.

It is imperative that the area being treated is not tan the day of the procedure.  Afterward, as with all laser treatments, it is important to protect your skin from the sun using a sunscreen daily. You should use a sensitive skin cleanser and moisturizer for about a week, then you can resume your normal skincare routine.

The treatment “turns the clock back” after the series of treatments.  Most people complete a series of treatments then return for a maintenance treatment once or twice per year.
